The combination of Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala is deadly! Germany, led by a youthful duo, handily overcomes Hungary in the Nations League opener.

For the first time since their devastating quarterfinal loss to Spain in the Euro 2024 competition, a youthful German team went to the field on Saturday. With the announcement of their retirement from international football by Toni Kroos, Thomas Muller, Ilkay Gundogan, and Manuel Neuer, Germany had to say goodbye to four famous football players since the competition concluded.

The hosts dominated play from the start in Dusseldorf, and they had a great chance to take the lead in the 20th minute when Musiala set up Niclas Fullkrug for a close-range goal, but Hungarian goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi denied the West Ham forward's effort.

However, the German was able to break the tie seven minutes later when Fullkrug eventually reached the back of the net. The play was started by Wirtz, who cut inside the penalty area from the right side and then crossed the ball to David Raum. The left full-back played a fantastic role in getting the ball to Musiala fast, who squared it to Fullkrug.

The Germans maintained the same level of effort during the first forty-five minutes of the second half. In the 57th minute, Musiala extended the team's lead with a solo goal off a swift counterattack, having previously assisted on the first goal. Before dribbling past Bendeguiz Bola inside the Hungary box and into the back of the net, the Bayern star nearly ran the entire length of the field. He added another assist nine minutes later, this time setting up Wirtz with a pass on the edge of the box. The 21-year-old collected himself before extending his country's lead with a shot from about eighteen yards out.

With a goal from Bayern teammate Musiala in the 77th minute, Aleksandar Pavlovic scored his first goal for his country once more. Four minutes later, Kai Havertz completed the thrashing from the penalty spot.
