Weather Report for IND vs. BAN, 2nd Test, Kanpur: Heavy rain is expected to wipe out Day 2
On the first day of the second Test between India and Bangladesh at Kanpur, few overs could be played due to a mix of poor visibility and intense rain. Bangladesh ended up scoring 107 for 3.
Due to an outfield that had been flooded by overnight rain, the actual toss was delayed by one hour. Upon the eventual coin toss, India emerged victorious. Rohit Sharma made the unwavering decision to bowl first under the cloudy conditions, marking the first time India have done so in a home Test since 2015. India fielded an unchanged XI, so Rohit anticipated his three seamers would take advantage of the circumstances. In comparison to the typical Kanpur surface, he noted the pitch was a little softer and had a little more grass. Bangladesh interpreted the circumstances entirely differently. They chose to bat first and to use three spinners in addition to that.
Jasprit Bumrah was able to move the ball both ways and initially delivered three maidens but was unable to claim a wicket. Not only did Shadman Islam and Zakir Hasan escape the early periods, but Mohammed Siraj also failed. Zakir really faced 20 balls during that time, but he was unable to establish his account.
When Akash Deep was brought on in the ninth over, everything was different. With his third ball, Yashasvi Jaiswal ran low to his right and pouched it with both hands as Zakir walked towards him and edged it into a gully. On the fairness of the catch, the TV umpire was consulted. Despite having just one viable perspective, he was able to conclude that the ball entered Jaiswal's hands directly.
After a few overs, Akash Deep made another blow. He continued to round the wicket and managed to get one past Shadman's inside edge and strike him in the pad. The massive LBW appeal was rejected by the on-field umpire because it appeared as though the ball would have, at most, grazed leg stump. When India decided to review, the projection revealed that the ball had struck a sizable portion of the leg stump, shocking everyone. With a good attitude, Shanto hit a couple streaky boundaries in the first part of the batting inning. Mominul had also started off hesitantly but gained confidence as the innings went on. He drove Bumrah into the covers after picking up fours from Siraj and Akash Deep via the ramp.
