With a convincing victory over Sri Lanka, the Indian women's cricket team maintained their hopes of making it to the T20 World Cup 2024 semi-finals. Harmanpreet, the captain, was the team's main batsman as India crushed the islands by 82 runs. As a result, India's Net Run Rate increased to +0.576, placing it in second place, behind Australia, the leaders of the group. Even though India is currently in second place, they must defeat Australia next to guarantee a spot in the final four. For them, a loss is going to make things very difficult.
If India Beat Australia:
In order for India to have a chance of qualifying for the semi-finals, they must defeat Australia in their last group stage encounter. The Women in Blue, Australia, and New Zealand will all have six points apiece (3 wins out of 4) if India defeats the Aussies. The squad that advances to the knockout stages will then be determined by Net Run Rate. India currently has a higher NRR than New Zealand.
Pakistan should have a lower NRR than India in order for Harmanpreet Kaur and company to advance to the next round, especially because they also gained four points during the process. Although they are in a comparable situation, New Zealand's NRR is currently far lower than India's. Therefore, there is little likelihood that they will overthrow Harmanpreet's team.
