On Friday afternoon, Mikel Arteta returned to the spotlight at the Sobha Realty Training Centre to discuss our match against Nottingham Forest after taking a two-week break to relax.
The manager discussed a variety of current topics, such as injuries, our performance thus far, our 250-game winning streak, and even the retirement of his tennis idol, Rafael Nada.
Here, Is Everything He Had To Say:
Some things have gone well, while others haven't. Trossard seemed to be in good health; he trained this morning. The doctor was able to attend that session, so that's fantastic, and we will evaluate everything with him immediately.
Ben will be absent for several months. It has never been the same, and the hardships have been different, but regrettably, we have had to make a decision in the last few weeks. It reached a point where we had to do the procedure in order to safeguard the athlete, even though we knew Ben would push every limit. He accepted that, which will undoubtedly keep him out of the game for a few months. I don't think he will be out for six months or a year, but I can't tell you for sure [how long] until we see how he responds to the operation.
Ricci's rehabilitation is going incredibly well because he trained today. He will be in the squad since he was able to perform certain tasks with the physiotherapists last week and trained on the field with us this week and today.
I reflect on what we've accomplished. Is it because the opposition has been better than us that we haven't won games? The answer is obvious: no. Should we have won more of those games? Yes, is the response. Do I approve of the work our team is doing? Yes, but we still need to work on a few things, particularly the way we have defended assaulting the box. Overall, I have a lot of ideas, but I need to know how the players are feeling, and the only way I can do that besides calling them is when they return. The staff and players' enthusiasm yesterday was incredible.
That's what makes traveling with these guys so much fun. There isn't much I need to do because they enjoy being here and returning to us, which instantly boosts the energy. Painting an image and ensuring that we are headed in the right direction are always beneficial.
