Pep Guardiola refers to 'quality' because The Tottenham pair that assisted in defeating Man City Jonatha
Pep Guardiola acknowledges that his Manchester City team was unable to defeat James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski of Tottenham. After being crushed 4-0 by Spurs, the Premier League champions suffered their fifth straight loss, adding to Guardiola's already historic run of bad play. The crushing loss at home further exacerbated City's situation, since the manager had never lost four straight games before. In addition to losing their 52-game winning streak at Etihad Stadium, it marks the first time the team has lost five straight games since 2006.
Spurs dominated a City team that waned following a bright first 10 minutes or so, during which Erling Haaland wasted a few good opportunities. While Kulusevski pulled the strings from a wide position after being returned to by manager Ange Postecoglou after a good stint in the center of the pitch, Maddison, who was enjoying his 28th birthday, scored a brace.
Guardiola said after the match that the two had stung his team. He remarked, "We are a little bit fragile now." "We had a great start, but we were unable to score. And they score when they first get to [our box]. "Obviously, Maddison and Kulusevski were of high caliber."
At the worst possible moment, LAFC let up one of the ugliest own goals you'll ever see at this level. In the Western Conference Semifinal, the Black and Gold had just grabbed the lead against Seattle when Maxime Chanot's powerful howler undid all of their hard work. Chanot appeared to lose sight of whose goal his team was aiming for after his partner kept Seattle onside at the back-post. A cross was fizzed in towards him, and he sent the ball precisely into the corner of his own goal.
