When the Golden State Warriors confirmed earlier today that guard De'Anthony Melton will miss the rest of the surgery to repair his left ACL after hurting it against Dallas, they were already dealing with some difficult injury news. However, a key player in the team's rotation was hurt after being struck in the face during Wednesday night's 120-97 victory over the Atlanta Hawks, forcing him to leave the game.

Steve Kerr, the head coach of the Warriors, talked about the injury and his current status after the game.

After X-rays, Kerr verified that second-year player Brandin Podziemski was injured in the second half but did not sustain a broken nose. He is listed by Kerr as daily moving forward. The fact that Podziemski had already dealt with a nasal injury—he cracked his nose during the preseason and had to wear a mask for many weeks—makes this situation intriguing.

However, considering how recently the X-rays were taken, it is encouraging that they came out negative.

As previously said, Golden State will need Podziemski's presence on the perimeter in order to thrive this season due to Melton's injury. Podziemski has recently struggled after a good first month of the season, which included a 1-6 shooting effort on Wednesday night against the Hawks.

The Warriors will play their third NBA Cup Group Play game on Friday when they travel to New Orleans to take on the Pelicans.
