Aston villa vs Man city

Player ratings for Man City vs. Aston Villa: Fired in the morning? As Youri Tielemans and Morgan Rogers thrash the pitiful Premier League winners, Pep Guardiola's failures reach a new low.

Ilkay Gundogan was tormented in midfield and Erling Haaland was anonymous in attack as the struggling champions suffered their third straight loss.

Villa, who defeated City at home last season in only one of Pep Guardiola's team's three league losses, were completely in control from the start and had a chance to score in the opening minute when Stefan Ortega stopped Jhon Duran. Then, just an inch from slipping over, the German goalie grabbed a header from Pau Torres.

When Duran accepted a gift from Morgan Rogers, a former City academy player who had been freed by a brilliant ball from the fantastic Youri Tielemans, the hosts finally got the goal they were due. City just created two opportunities in the first half despite having a lot of possession and no creativity. Early in the second half, Duran scored again, but City was spared by an offside flag, causing the net to bulge once more. But when the England international danced his way through an overly accommodating City midfield, Villa waited and ultimately scored twice via Rogers.

In the 93rd minute, Phil Foden gave City a score, but it was too little, too late. The champions are currently nine points behind leaders Liverpool, who have two games remaining, after falling below Villa to sixth place in the Premier League standings.

Man City's players are rated by GOAL from Villa Park.

Defense & Goalkeeper

Ortega Stefan (6/10):made some excellent saves against Duran and Pau Torres to keep City in it early. He was a touch suspicious with his feet, but he couldn't be blamed for either goal.

Rico Lewis (4/10):committed a clever foul to save a second goal and kept the ball nicely. After the interval, he switched to center midfield, but this merely increased Villa's midfield dominance.

Stones, John (4/10):He made his first appearance in a month, and before halftime, it was clear that he was hooked.

Akanji, Manuel (4/10):played Duran and Rogers onside for the first goal. Despite making reckless challenges, he was good with the ball and made several switches to Grealish.
Gvardiol Josko (4/10):With a half chance, he headed over the bar. fought defensively once more.

Attack

Grealish, Jack (6/10):In the face of constant jeering from supporters of his boyhood club, he endured the most of City's play. But he was unable to inspire any originality.

(3/10) Erling Haaland:less well-known than when he last played at Villa Park after breaking his foot. had the fewest touches (18) of any player who began the game and didn't appear to be a danger.

Phil Foden (5/10):He was in charge of City's best move in the first half, a raging dribble and shot, but it was only a fleeting moment, and he didn't contribute much more until his consolation goal in extra time.

Manager & Subs

Kyle Walker (4/10):brought in to support the defense, but Villa's confidence only increased while he was playing.

Savinho (4/10):scarcely got on the ball and didn't seem to be making an impact.

(N/A) Jeremy Doku:entered in the eighty-fourth minute.

Guardiola, Pep (4/10):He had no answer, and his strategy—which appeared to be to let Grealish do all the work—failed. He is out of ideas, but more injuries (Ederson, Ruben Dias) aren't helping.
