Dortmund vs Barcelona

Barcelona wins late against Dortmund thanks to two goals from Torres.

After a fierce 3-2 Champions League victory over Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday, Barcelona advanced to the verge of qualification thanks to two goals from substitute Ferran Torres, including the game-winning goal in the 85th minute. After entering the game in the 71st minute, Torres scored twice in 10 minutes during a thrilling five-goal second half, helping Barcelona move up to 15 points in second position with two league games left.

Serhou Guirassy gave Dortmund two goals to pull even after falling down, but Torres' strike off a feed from Lamine Yamal prevented them from winning a third. With 12 points, the Germans fell to ninth position. The top eight teams advance to the round of 16 automatically.

"We can be very happy with what we have done," Hansi Flick, the coach of Barcelona, told the media. "The first half was fantastic, and we maintained our composure and strength when they scored in the second half. "We performed well, but Dortmund played really well with players that move quickly. Due to our own errors, we gave up goals. Although there is always room for improvement, I must congratulate the crew today for a job well done. From the beginning, Barcelona controlled the ball, and both captain Raphinha and leading scorer Robert Lewandowski had early opportunities. However, nothing went wrong as Raphinha finished a swift play in the 53rd minute by latching onto a fantastic ball from Dani Olmo, giving Barcelona the lead with his sixth goal of the season.

An hour after the Guinea international was pulled down in the area, Dortmund's Kobel saved the day again by preventing another Olmo attempt, and the hosts tied the score with a well-taken penalty from Guirassy. He was beaten in the 75th when Torres, who had come on four minutes earlier, slotted in on the rebound after Kobel had punched a Frenkie de Jong volley into his path. Three minutes later, Guirassy responded as the Barcelona defense was caught off guard, but it was insufficient to secure a point as Torres scored again following an incredible Yamal through pass.

After the final whistle, defender Nico Schlotterbeck had to be treated on the field after turning his ankle after a header in the game's last action, which was further bad news for Dortmund, who were already beset by injuries.
