India Women Dominate West Indies Women in First T20I Victory
India Women emerged victorious in the first T20I against West Indies Women, held at the DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai, on December 15, 2024. The hosts delivered a commanding performance, defeating the West Indies by 49 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
Batting first, India set an imposing target of 195/4, thanks to spectacular contributions from Smriti Mandhana (54 off 33 balls) and Jemimah Rodrigues (73 off 25 balls). Their fiery partnership laid the foundation for a dominant innings. Later, Richa Ghosh added a quick 20 off 14 balls, further strengthening the total.
In response, West Indies Women managed 146/7 in their 20 overs. Deandra Dottin was the standout performer for the visitors, scoring a spirited 52 off 28 balls, but the Indian bowling unit, led by Titas Sadhu (3 wickets) and Deepti Sharma (2 wickets), ensured a comfortable win.
