Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy: Prithvi Shaw displayed glimmers of his vintage best just days after being unsold in the IPL super auction. In Mumbai's quarterfinal victory over Vidarbha on Wednesday in Bengaluru, the 25-year-old stole the show with a 49 off 26 balls.


Vidarbha 221 for 6 (Taide 66, Wankhade 51, Dubey 43*, Ankolekar 2-32) was defeated by six wickets by Mumbai 224 for 4 (Rahane 84, Shaw 49, Dube 37*, Shedge 36*, Parwani 2-33).
Mumbai appeared to be sending the message, "Beware of us," as they swept into the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy semifinal. Mumbai crushed a target of 222 against Vidarbha with six wickets and four deliveries in the bank, six days after chasing down a record 230 against Andhra.By hitting 84 off 45 balls and contributing 83 in only seven overs with Prithvi Shaw, Ajinkya Rahane led the way. Shaw was caught at long-off by Dipesh Parwani to halt Mumbai's pace, and the wicket only slightly slowed them down. 

Shaw scored 49 runs off of 26 deliveries, including four sixes and five fours.
Rahane had hit 10 fours and three sixes by the time he was finally removed by Yash Thakur to begin the 16th over, but Mumbai still needed another 65 runs to win. Suryansh Shedge went 4, 6, 6, 6 against Mandar Mahale to score 24 runs off the 17th over after realizing the significant demand. The match was virtually over when Shivam Dube began the 18th by belting two more sixes off Parwani.

The half-centuries from Atharva Taide and Apoorv Wankhade, who contributed 81 for the third wicket, were the reason Vidarbha had 221 on the board. Taide had already hit fifty when Vidarbha reached 100 for two after ten overs. Both batsmen then hammered 46 off the following four overs. Shedge bowled Wankhede for 51 after Atharva Ankolekar caught Taide in front for 66, but Jitesh Sharma (11 off six), Mahale (13 off 5), and Shubham Dubey (43 off 19 balls) hammered 54 off the last three overs.Twenty-two sixes and 39 fours had been hit in Alur at the end of the match.

Rahane stepped in and blasted a game-winning 84 off 45 balls, smashing three sixes and ten boundaries after Prithvi was out for 49.

Shivam Dube and Suryansh Shedge saved Mumbai from a middle-overs collapse, though, when Shreyas Iyer (5) and Suryakumar Yadav (9) fell. The pair gave Mumbai the much-needed late boost with an undefeated total of 67 runs in only 25 balls.Shegde, who was signed by Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 auction, slammed 36 off only 12 balls, while Shivam Dube struck two boundaries and a six for his 37 not out from 22 balls.In the quarterfinal in Alur, Mumbai defeated Vidarbha (221/6) with 224 for 4 in 19.2 overs. Dipesh (3/33), Rahane (89), Shaw (49), and Shedge (36).
